You can make global changes to the Headlight database using Fleet Manager. The basic steps are enabling edit from the customer view and using Search & Replace to update specific fields.

This example uses Search & Replace to change route days from A, B, C to 1, 2, 3.

Usage

All the deliveries on Route A will be moved to Route 1
Enable editing by right-clicking on the grid and select Edit
Right-click on the grid and select Replace
Change the search and replace criteria and click Replace All
Headlight updates all 17 deliveries on Route A

The driving mileage also dropped by 85 miles and saved 2 1/2 hours of route time. Just click on any ETA link in the left sidebar to show orders for a single route day. Use the Quick Route dialog to optimize and get driving directions in seconds. When everything’s ready, just print from your browser and hand it to the driver.

Headlight lets you print maps, driving directions and delivery instructions for any route day. This is often called a Route Book or Route Itinerary Report when used with larger fleets.

From the Route Planning tab, you’ll see an area called “Driving Directions”. Select a date from the calendar and Headlight will display available routes and total orders on each route. Directions can be printed for any or all of the available routes at the same time. Each route book appears as a new tab or window (depending on your browser ), so it’s easy to review each route separately.

When everything’s ready, just print from your browser and hand it to the driver.

Headlight lets you show the route path for any route day.

It’s very simple to use. Just click on any ETA link in the left sidebar. Headlight will instantly filter the view to only show deliveries on the same route and date (i.e. one route day). The matching route path shows every stop in sequence. It’s a great way to quickly see how a route is being driven.

The A through Z map markers represent each stop in the path. A is the 1st stop, B is the 2nd stop, C is the 3rd stop. When a route day contains more than 26 stops, Headlight will simply reuse the map markers. That means routes with any number of stops will display properly.

All of them use Headlight to save hours and miles every day. This Quick Start Program will teach you the same techniques. You’ll know exactly where the drivers are headed, exactly where they’ll be during the day and exactly how many miles will be driven.

Quick Start lets you learn Headlight in an organized manner. Each lesson consists of a brief explanation, short video tutorial (typically 2 to 4 minutes) and a spot for questions and comments. These build progressively, but feel free to dive in anywhere or skip ones that aren’t needed immediately. You can always come back any time for a refresher course.

Most of this information also applies for Prescheduled Delivery Routes (i.e. managing deliveries on a fixed calendar schedule), but there are some differences. If that’s your situation, visit the MobileIQ website for additional tutorials.

Although most will match properly (a process called “geocoding” or “pinning”), there’s usually a few mistakes along the way. Learn how to quickly identify and correct missing, incomplete or invalid delivery addresses.

Quick Start #3: Changing the start location for routes

A depot is any place where the routes start and finish. It could be an office location, warehouse, processing plant or service center. You’ll learn how to change the default location, add new ones and pick different symbols for displaying depots and routes. If the depots aren’t pinned accurately, the route mileage won’t be accurate. This lesson also covers customizing the Map Markers used for displaying orders on the map.

Quick Start #4: Importing orders, deliveries and service calls

You’ll probably be importing data from another system into Headlight. It might be an Excel spreadsheet, text file, CSV file or a standalone billing, order entry or CRM system. After you select a file, Headlight automatically matches fields and flags records that can’t be imported. Smaller jobs are geocoded in real-time, so map symbols appear instantly.
